Who said there is nothing new in classical music?
Now there is - thanks to the Elanée Ensemble.
Combining a double bass and viola reveals a whole new array of sounds. Both instruments on their own have dark, resonant secrets and when combined, their rich sonorities entwine, seduce and amaze.
Even more when the doublebass is played
by Stuart Thomson and the viola by Jo St Leon, then there is no limit to the virtuosity and beauty.
The rapport between these two fine musicians is magical
and their repertoire challenges them technically & musically. Their humour and their shared love of music is infectious.
